Good if it happens. But when? What makes it to say it is dead for the lawmakers. If it is likely to be dead by the end of July, then what for the hearings in the month of august before the next recession? No hopes for anything, until something is signed by the president. Any new BILL, agian the same senate, congress, commitee process and KILL it at the end. Hmmm it is just my frustration and I am not blaming anyone. I am there to fight till the end(?? I dunno where the end is though).

CIR will likely not be VOTED dead. There just will not be anything done about naming a Conference committee. If a committee is indeed named, but they don't produce a report in 2-3 weeks, then CIR would be deemed dead.
The bottom line is, if nothing happens by the end of July, CIR will likely be dead.

I got some good news. I called uscis just now and got two receipt numbers, one for 485 and one for EAD. Checks not cashed yet. I don't have the receipt number for AP yet. So it seems that our box is not lost and they're processing them, though so slowly. My application arrived on 7/3 at NSC, received by R. William at 9:03am.
Hope every one of us will receive our receipts, EAD and AP asap.

I agree with your assessment. I was there myself this past dec/Jan and I am thinking along the same lines
I dont see why we need to struggle here and the future looks so bleak. India is really booming and we have missed out on the best 5 years of that. If we dont move back in the next 2-3 years we would have missed out on the biggest boom period in India's history.
There was a time when Infrastructure in India was the biggest concern, but things are changing rapidly. I was amazed at the changes in the last 2 years since I was last there.

You are turning a blind eye to his family, while also asking him to spend time with his family. You ask him to spend what he can on his treatment, while his insurance cover may go away if he quits his job and return to fiji/india.
There is no easy answer here.
But if he had his GC, he could spend all the time with his family, use his insurance cover at the same time, and not worry about his family going out of status.
He COULD try to expedite the GC, while also exploring other options.

On July 25th lawyer sent my documents 140 & 485 concurrent, PD port from previous I-140 approval (approved at Nebraska).
Reached Nebraska Service Centre on July 26th.
Will it be processed at Nebraska Service centre or Texas Service centre? According to new direct filing instructions my employer and my residence comes under Texas Service centre.

By does not allow to work, I meant, restricted in taking other opportunities that the person might be eligible to take. Even with AC-21, one is restricted to the field in which one originally applied for EB visa. Actually, because it is indefinite, it makes the case stronger that these people are here indefinitely and so should not be restricted in employment opportunities. Being for a temporary period, obviously one can be restricted any way, like say people on visitor visa not being allowed to work.

As i mentioned in the thread Gandhigiri in one of my first posts to support the flower campaign idea.. Rosa parks was the inspiration for MLK in this country for the civil disobedience This is very similar to how Gandhiji got the idea of Satyagraha from - guess who? Kasturba Gandhi.
We need to carry on more things like this in a non-violent way at grassroots level to increase the visibility. Imagine what Gandhiji did in the 1940's with the entire media controlled by the Brits and with no other medium of communication available. We are in a far better situation right now we have access to media, can create our own blogs and we should use it to make our presence felt and highlight the injustice done to us.

I never beleive in polls. The questions are always framed in such a way so that max people go and answer the way the poll wants....example below
Q1 ... Do you as an American support CIR for resolving immigration issues this country faces ?
Q2 ... Do you as an American support CIR so that illegal immigrants be a Citizen of this country ?
Looks at the above two questions, I think for Q1 lot of people would say "Yes" and "No" for the Q2, so I never beleive on the polls , the questions are always framed to get the answer the poll wants.

What wrong he did? Nothing illegal but certainly not the best practise. Atleast he has been insensitive to his former employer.
what in the world makes this insensitive. h1b employees are not the bonding labours to the employers. If the employee leaves the company within 2 or 3 month after all the pain company had taken like spending for h1b filing training or providing placement, then that would be insensitive. After 2 yrs of serving, if the employee wants to look out for something better, employer shud make the exit smooter. And some else said earlier that its only employees who force employers for GC. i do not think so. If u see any advertisements posted by desi employers, the packages come along with GC process. they highlight GC point to attract the employees. yes it is true that most of the employees look out for GC for settlement. but that doesn't mean they force their employers who are not ready to do it. they might choose someone who offered GC process as a part of the package they r offered in the first. in such cases the chances of employers who do not offer GC process to get h1b's drop down drastically. thats the reason they offer GC.
Also GC makes long term commitment between an employer and an employee.

7% quota based on national origin is based on law but it is clearly a biased and outdated law. It is beyond my comprehension why should we scared of initiating a litigation against the US government when it is clearly involved in blatant discrimination. The HSMP rules were challenged successfully by Indian high skilled workers in UK, why can't we do the same over here? I pledge to donate USD 200 for a lawsuit if such an action is initiated.

I sent the documents by June 8th,
On June 25th I wrote them a sentimental email saying that I have not been to my home country in the last 4 years and would love to see my parents in ailing(Sorry Dad!!) december atleast. I mentioned them that getting h1B stamping is really a pain and would like to have EAD/AP by then. So its better to get in the queue before the July 1st rush

I'm in very similar situation. My dates were available for June as well. My HR/Attorneys did this long and painful bureaucratic process. We have an internal website which says that my case was �filed� on Jun-29th. Don�t know what the fuck that means. Whether it was sent on 29th or received on 29th? Couldn�t get HR to answer.Don�t have direct communication lines with Attorneys... If it�s sent on 29th, does USCIS take packages on Saturday or Sunday? If they take only on Monday, will they throw it out because it reached in July? Oh well, just have to wait and see...
exactly the same situation as mine. Attorney was an A#%$%OLE.. gave all documentation on first day of june, and the sucker filed it on June29th reaching USCIS on july 2nd.
