It will not stop the minformation being spread. We have to collect enough evidence and present it to the media. 4-5 job ads is just the beginning, we need a collection of few hundred to prove this is the prevalent trend.

This event cannot run based on MLM or false promises.
It can be successful only if every member understands their contribution and participation is key for this event and they are the one who can solve their immigration issue by taking this event seriously.
What is the difference between the two? IMO, two words "Effective Marketing". Come on, where are the MBA's among us who can offer strategy? Actually I feel we are so backward that we don't even need MBA's to improve from here, just any simple ideas

I have read many bills in last year and a half. There are a bunch of such bills pending..The problem is that they just stay pending...Unless that gets placed on the senate calender introducing the bill is useless...

It might not be the case. My i-140 is pending at NSC, but still the I-485 case was sent to TSC.
I and my wife received transfer notice to TSC yesterday. This may be because of my pending I-140 at TSC.

Some of the reforms that happened and some the IV is pursuing will probably help most H4's a long way.

Now if every body is able to adjust their status upon labor approval, that is less than a year's wait time for H4. Not a bad deal.

Totally agreed that quota increase is controversial and an alternative approach must be agreed upon - 1932, CIR and now SKIL has taught us that bitter lesson. I am not by any means questioning the wisdom of going after the low-hanging fruits like 485 filing etc. All I am saying is - we cannot assume everything else remains the same. Things like 485 filing etc are our niche goals - no corporate interest is served by that and in a brutally capitalistic country thats a huge disadvantage.The fact is ANY relief, whether it includes quota increase or not, still takes a lot of lobbying and money to introduce all on its own strength.Yours and mine promotion/career prospects are the least of the lawmakers' worries, however non-controversial it may be and however deserving we may be. The need of the hour is to increase our membership base and contributions - lets face it, 200k in funds is not going to get us too far on our own steam. If 6000 of us could achieve so much in an year, imagine what 100k will do. That way we will be a credible enough force to be heard and respected. It still beats me how we have only 6000 odd members despite the dire situation that the majority of EB applicants find themselves in since 2001.

All I am saying is, we should ask for provisions that our anti-immigrant friends will possibly not object strongly to. It is not simply a matter of promotions and career advancement anymore. however i m feeling better now seeing the drama on immigration portal june visa bulletin thread...not that i am a drama monger.. but seeing drama between two professionals really spices things up.. why else are boxing and wwf interesting

This is a neat idea to draw worthwhile attention which at the same time won't cause any hatred. I'm sure most of us would like to act upon this.
Can one of core members talk to a florist and workout some kind of arrangement where if we call them and give a code and payment they would process the order with a pre-set message and delivery address. I'm sure we will have a large participation if we make the process simple for the mass.

Our 485/131/765 packet was mailed out on July 26th. We received all four Transfer Notices from CSC yesterday, stating that they transferred our cases to Nebraska as my I-140 was approved from LIN. Now waiting for the actual receipts to arrive from Nebraska.

If one receives the card than don't worry about ADIT processing.
Those who are seeing the 'Welcome Notice malied' status have ADIT mentioned in the Case Status online. There is NOTHING to be done at your end except waiting for the cards once your case is approved. USCIS will NOT approve a case unless the FP is complete - refer to the 485 adjudicator field manual.
Just like their legacy IT systems, USCIS standard email messages are also in the same league and have not been updated. Wait for the cards and contact USCIS only if you dont receive them in a reasonable amount of time - read two weeks from case approval date.

My questions are:
I am in H1B status and plan to keep it. I need to go for Landing in Canada (PR approved). I have pending I-485 with approved AP, and EAD(not using).
1. My passport with old H1B visa is expired. The H1B visa is also expired in may 2007. I have new valid passport(India) with Canada Immigrant Visa and approved I-797 extension for H1B till 2010. Can I safely use automatic visa revalidation to come back after landing considering expired visa in expired passport?
If I decide to go for Stamping:
2. If stamping gets denied or delayed, can I come back in with AP?
3. I may have to file EAD renewal application before I leave. Is it safe to travel outside US after filing for EAD renewal or will the application be considered abandoned. I plan on using H1B stamp or automatic revalidation to come back.
My wife is H4-> F1-> now pending AOS because using EAD(from I-485 pending not OPT).

Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!

I applied for the first time in 2001, and then in 2005 (due to relocation) and ended up at the backlog center. Another relocation and now my PD is March 2007, and these recent wannabes want Perm approved in 1 month, I-140 premium processing in few days and then onto I-485 which should be current with no retrogression. Amen !! When do you want the USCIS to bend over for you?
:D ... couldn't stop laughing, the gov't should move the H1B quote to 250K/year and keep the GC to 140K/year, US will then get over a million people in the next 4 years.
